I had money in hand ready to buy a new Dell computer laptop computer from Best Buy. The sales rep got the computer down from the high storage bin and I noticed it said Made in China. I decided I would wait until I could buy a laptop computer made in the USA. Yes they are about 2 or 3 times more expensive, but you have to draw your line in the sand somewhere and I choose to pay more for an American made computer. China is polluting our environment at record speed and mowing down 100 year old trees like they were last week's grass. We have to take a stand and start demanding quality American Made products again or the US dollar will continue to decline and Americans will continue to lose their jobs. I'm just one person and I realize one person is not going to change the entire American economy, but if every American looked on the box for a Made in China sticker, label or printing and not buy anything from China anymore American companies would stop sending their manufacturing facilities to China. Wal-Mart started this insanity and so I would encourage people to stop buying from them as well.
I happened across your site tonight as I searched the Gateway website, where I purchased my desktop. I was happy to learn, at the time, that the company was, at least, still owned by Americans. To my dismay, as I looked for my daughter's college laptop, I read this evening that they sold out in 10/07 to Acer. Where was everyone when there were still a few American-made goods out there?? Where the heck is our government?? Oh, yes, they are busy making deals with the foreign companies to invest their own money...
systemaxpc Claims to be 100% American, they are assembled here, tech support here, but I just assume some component must have passed through China, at some point. I'm still researching (which is how I came across your page). I'd be happy to keep you updated.
Try Polywell, since I can type the link, just type Polywell dot com. They're a company based in San Francisco, pretty much assembled in US still, you can't really do anything about components such as hard drives and video cards but they're as close as you can get. They've been around since 1987. I try to buy made or assembled in US as much as I can.
who gives a damn if they are made in China? The truth is, most of the scaples that surgeons use are made in china.....and you don't hear people screamin' "Don't use that thar scapel on me, Doc 'cuz it twern't made in the USofA." NO, you wouldn't care if something came from China if it involved saving your life. IF you are so against something being made overseas, then maybe YOU should be the one to build them here. And you want to talk about pride? I am proud. I'm proud that I am a HUMAN living my life on a GLOBAL home. One World! A New world! You are an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I care. Many people care. And so should you. Simply put, Americans buy more than we produce. That leads to large trade imbalances, which in turn lead to massive borrowing from, yes, China. Massive debt contributes to the economic problems we're seeing at present. There is nothing wrong with choosing to borrow less and buy more locally made products. In fact, if Americans do not stop spending more than we produce, our economy will falter further and China will lose its biggest market. That's not good for the US or for China.
If you're shopping at walmart you clearly don't give a damn about America anyway.
I have started looking for American made computers and parts. I found a place called Super Talent Technology (www supertalent com) that carries all sorts of ram memory, flash memory (including hard drives), and even power supplies. They have competitive prices and everything is made in the USA! I am buying my flash drive and SD cards for my camera from them from now own.
We have had luck finding American made items, and no luck with others...I'd like to quote you/blog you at our site An American FootprintLets reclaim our country! Maybe not all of it, but the majority? THINK before you spend your stimulus at Wal-Mart, they are China's sixth largest trading partner
I don't now who's write or wrong i now one thing we live in the greatest country in the world, and i was not born here, but i will fight for the freedom and the way we live with out thinking about twice we live in a society completely diversified we share the culture thought and knowledge of everybody am sure that what we spent helps millions of people live just a little bit better, than before in return we should ask for better quality products and more respect for are country or flag, and our people. Big companies are at fault they should contribute a lot more to are problemssssssssss. You don't have to be born here to be american! We are all in a way immigrants, just some of us have been here longer then others. This is where we live, together we make it better, immigrant or not.
Big companies are at fault, we too are at fault, everybody is at fault. I hate what this country has become and unfortunately what this country has become has been that way since I can remember, since I'm 32 years old. Greedy politicians, greedy corporations, and ignorance are the cause.
It could be fixed, we can fix it by exploiting the weaknesses of those in power. Feed the little bastard law makers with money and they'll do anything you want them to do. Lobby to increase import taxes, china labor wages wont seem so damn good when you have to pay $0.01 for a keychain and a tax of $50.00 bucks for bringing it across the border. Offer incentives to the ex-patriot corporations to return manufacturing to this country, discounted lease agreements and the ability to distribute goods to Americans with out costly import taxes will become extremely appealing. This is how we take our country back and this is how we see made in U.S.A printed on everything we buy.
Sincerely,
Martin Sigley
